For your consideration is a marvelous MATCHED PAIR OF RAISED DISHES that will be sure to impress. They feature frogs holding up the dishes with their front legs. In Chinese traditional culture , frog represents the lunar yin, and the Frog spirit Ch'ing-Wa Sheng is associated with healing and good fortune in business. Each of the raised dishes proudly stand 2-3/4" tall to the tip of the frog's nose and they have a diameter of about 5". We could not find any pieces of art like these and we could not find any reference to any artist or company that made these. They were acquired at an estate sale in St. Augustine, Florida over 30 years ago and were very old at that time. These pieces would look great near a sink as a soap or brush dish, or they could be used to hold a candle. I could also see them as trinket dishes near a door for keys. They are heavy weighing a full pound each. We could not find any marks on them. Of course, we did not attempt to polish them, we just dusted them off with a dry brush.
