Description

This item is a SMC Takumar 6x7 90mm f/2.8 leaf shutter lens for the Pentax 67-series cameras. This is a normal lens for the 6x7 format. While this lens can be used as a standard lens with the focal plane shutter of the Pentax 67-series cameras, it is also equipped with its own leaf shutter. Using the leaf shutter, the camera can fire at higher shutter speeds when used with a flash. My film tests and testing with a Reveni Camera Tester indicate the shutter speeds are accurate. from Pentax:"The 90mm f/2.8 SMC Takumar 6x7 Leaf Shutter Lens is a multifunctional lens that greatly increases the picture-taking versatility of the 6x7 camera. In addition to permitting use as a normal lens without cocking the built-in leaf shutter, it may be put to a variety of special uses when the leaf shutter is used. Shutter speed settings for the lens shutter run from 1/30 sec. to 1/500 sec. to enable high-speed flash synch — a must for outdoor portraits requiring fill-in flash and other special applications. Moreover, the leaf shutter lens also permits easy and efficient multiple exposures, simply by locking the camera shutter open and freely tripping the lens shutter as often as desired without advancing the film. Special features include a built-in X flash terminal, cable release socket, shutter cocking lever and mode control lever." It comes with front and rear lens caps, and a hard case. The lens is clean and functions smoothly. I have inspected the lens with a high intensity light and it shows no evidence of fungus, mold, scratches, chips or any coating non-uniformities. There is some amount of internal dust and slight haze that is typical for the age of the optic and should not impact imaging performance. The shutter speeds appear accurate when tested with a Reveni Camera Tester. I have used it with an adapter on a modern Fujifilm GFX100 camera body and found the results to be very good, as well as the quality of the film images with my Pentax 67ii.
