Maxfield Parrish’s “Madonna and Child” & “Shepherds” (Christmas Eve). Double-Matted and Framed Matched Set of Sepia Illustrations (Frontispieces) and ‘quite rare’, from the December, 1898 issue of ‘Century Magazine’, illustrating the poem ‘Christmas Eve’ by Edna Proctor Clarke; (Sold as a Set Only). They are double-matted (gold inner, to match lip on frame, and ecru outer). Both images measure 7”x 5 1/4”; outermost frame dimensions of 13 1/2”x 11”x 5/8”. The frames are new, however, a lovely match. Parrish signature and date barely discernible in bottom right corners (photos 10 & 16). Worth noting; these are 2 of Parrish’s earliest works and the ‘First’ (of many) commissions for Century Magazine. Note: The first 19 photos are taken without glass to avoid reflection/glare issues. Photos 21 thru 24 after completion of project. Both are backed with acid-free cotton rag board, new hardware, dustcover and bump-ons October, 2024 and ready to hang. A beautiful Christmas hanging (or very special gift). A true labor of Love. I refund shipping charges over actual. Please visit my other Parrish listings. Thanks for looking. Specify shipping choice.
