Here is a very interesting Ilex Portrait f5 lens. The lens is a petzval formula but is a much more modern lens then the usual brass petzvals. I would image it was from the 1920's. It comes in its original Ilex ACME shutter. The shutter fires but the speeds are not accurate so it needs some adjustment/repair. The diaphragm works. The glass is clean showing light wear. In the first picture the little line you see at the right of the glass is just a dust spec and not on the glass. I checked the lens on my camera and it has an approx 7" focal length and the image easily covered the 4x5 of the camera. I would image it was made for use with a 4x5 camera. It comes with its mounting flange. A great vintage lens. It is sold "as-is" due to the shutter. Check out my other auctions for more large format cameras and brass lenses.
