PLEASE BE ADVISED: Because Ebay has instituted a policy of making its own "offered reduced sales prices, deciding what it believes is reasonable on no basis whatsoever, and without the Seller’s advanced notice, I have deleted the listing option “Offers Accepted.” HOWEVER, I am generally willing to consider offers in some instances and it is always worth inquiring through messaging. IMPORTANT And EXCEPTIONALLY RARE 1690-1740 AMERICAN COLONIAL WROUGHT IRON AND COPPER MATCHED PAIR CANDLE STANDS Perhaps among the very few surviving matched pair of hand wrought iron blacksmith-made American Colonial Candlestands. I have found no published parallel for a matched pair. The photo shows a stylistically similar example, but is just one. It is pictured in George Neumann's standard reference, "Early American Antique Country Furnishings," page 58. Description: The top cups and inset holders for candles are made of pure copper. (One has an age separation and comes free from the cup, but is easily affixed with gentle hand pressure.) They are well-patinated. The candlestands themselves are wrought iron and also well-patinated, Height: 13 inches Base: 6 inches Note: There are occasional obviously modern look-alikes of recent manufacture. None have the handmade tubular sconces or handmade fastening nut beneath the cup (see photo)-- NOR are their twisted shafts bound in the square artisan terminals, giving these their distinct Colonial character.
