I am FINALLY getting around to listing this!!!!!!!!!!! HELLO WATCHERS! READ EVERYTHING BELOW!!!! PRICING IS FLEXIBLE - MAKE ME A REASONABLE OFFER!!! The pricing is heavily influenced due to this being mounted in a LN Black Copal 3 Shutter. You'll find very few in this condition and in this shutter. GOERZ APO ARTAR 24" F/12.5 - Going by the shutter scale the nominal F/11 is reduced to 12.5 by the max. opening of the shutter. It's mounted in a LIKE NEW Black Copal 3 shutter. This APPEARS to be a coated Apo Artar. Look at the photos. The outer elements reflect purple, the inner reflect blue. This is exactly the same as multiple Red Dots and an old Componon that I have. The shutter appears to be modified for the proper spacing of the elements. See the photos. It doesn't have a flange or retaining ring. Proper use will require the sourcing of a flange to fit an ~3.009" outside dia. lens thread. What the person who I bought this off of didn't divulge was that it was mounted on the Canham board by the gap between the rear lens group and the shutter itself. Look at the photos - it will make everything clear. It adds ~.099" to the lens overall length when mounted in this fashion. The Canham lens board measures 0.104" thick. So, that means that the existing gap between the lens group and the spacer on the back of the Copal shutter is ~ 0.005". The effect of an element spacing increase of .099" on a 24" lens... who knows? Maybe it converts it into a Red Dot? Red Dots were reputed to have a different spacing optimized for close-up work - unverified as far as I know. I called the usual suspects - none admit to having mounted this lens. Regardless, it's a beautiful job. It just needs a flange to be it's best. Lens serial #: 769515 Shutter Serial #: 82186 Ink Stamped 4.4.23 - a lot of Copal shutters have this stamp; I now surmise it's: YEAR.MONTH.DAY Comes with caps... sorta. The lens and shutter are near flawless. There's brassing - the lens is older than I am, and in better shape. There is no "fogging". There is no fungus. There is no separation of cemented elements - because all elements are air-spaced. There are no "cleaning wisps". There is no "Schneideritis". There is no oil on the shutter or iris blades. The iris blades are symmetrical. The shutter intervals sound accurate and consistent. I tested the shutter with my Calumet shutter tester: SEC: MEASURED 1 - 1.03696 / 1.03751 / 1.03244 1/2 - .53759 / .53544 / .53796 1/4 - .23370 / .23096 / .22876 1/8 - .14089 / .14086 / .14082 1/15 - .07294 / .07290 / .07259 1/30 - .03653 / .03640 / .03650 1/60 - .02255 / .02260 / .02262 1/125 - .01399 / .01401 / .01398 These speeds were all checked at F/11. NOTE: It appears that the shutter does not give a full f/11 with this lens, going by the markings it appears to be f/11+1/3 (F12.5). As is common with mechanical shutters, the fastest 2 speeds are ~1/2 stop slow, every other speed is well within tolerances. The speeds are very consistent - which is what is really important. For those into pinhole photography the lens delivers an unmarked F/256 with this lens - see the photos! If you want an excellent used example of this lens... you've found it. You will be hard-pressed to find a cleaner used example of this lens anywhere. I DON'T advertise this as a RED DOT - as I've seen others do on Ebay... AND I'VE SEEN THEM SOLD THAT WAY! I've notified sellers during the listings about the error... and they don't fix them. You're buying a modified LN Copal 3 shutter, with an excellent example of an older Apo Artar lens attached. Nothing more is implied My lenses offer "added value". These lenses haven't been produced in 50+ years. This lens has been packed-away in a climate-controlled house in a smoke-free environment for the past 20 years. It hasn't bounced around in a car trunk in 120-degree Arizona summers, been used in a dusty desert or in Florida humidity. I test them with a shutter tester and give the buyer a shutter timing report - no one else does that. That alone is worth 50-$100. And the report is an assurance that a CLA will not be necessary - Carol Miller at Flutot is charging $160 for that these days. U.S. SALES ONLY! WILL BE SHIPPED USPS SIGNATURE REQUIRED! NO P.O. BOXES! I WILL ONLY SHIP DIRECTLY TO THE BUYER. I WILL NOT SHIP TO A 2ND PARTY OR FREIGHT-FORWARDING COMPANY.
